Red Rocket

Unless your league racing you don't need jig. As stated many times before if you use jig incorrectly it will destroy your wheels. The DuPont will be fine foe scout racing.

Thanks tmeyer but the instructions in the vid also say not to use jig... I have the instructions for the Red Rocket but wanted to ask around.

I tried the Dupont silicone mentioned in the video and when I sprayed it onto a piece of steel it was weeks before it dried. Instead I used a spray recommended by another member here. It's 3M Dry-Type lube from NAPA. I sprayed it on, shook off excess, stuck them into holes in a piece of cardboard and covered with the cap from the spray can. The next day I sprayed again. They sat for weeks covered until the night before our race and we installed and oiled. This was with 2 coats of Red Rocket buffed 15 minutes after each coat.

you want your jig wet. Just spray on the axle and wait 15 mins. Then insert into wheel. Yes, still wet.

This is the first time I've heard of putting the jig wet into a wheel bore. Anyone else doing this?

Clarification: It's 3M Dry-Type Silicone that I use.

I work with methylene chloride every day. Yes, jig has methylene chloride in it. That is what eats the plastic, but it evaporates quickly usually less than 5mins in that volume. When you spray it on THE AXLE the m.c. evaporates off leaving a slick silicone(wet) substance behind. Thus safe to put into the wheel.

Just follow the directions that John sends with the Red Rocket. The dry times are spelled out in the directions.
I didn't get directions with any of my stuff

Should be a small white piece of paper that comes in the bag with the wax.
