First off, I cannot take the credit for this, another racer brought the idea to me. I don't know about you guys out there but I often want to view the races at slower speeds than what is being presented. John does a great job, and by the way, thanks for posting videos in HD, works great for what I'm about to describe.
First the video is ripped with KeepVid and then played back with any player of your choice with a slow motion feature. I've been using the VLC player with good results, I'm sure there are other players out there. I can't remember what player was recommended (sorry I deleted the PM accidentally).
What I've noticed, playing with the speed of the video you can see things you wouldn't normally see. I've sped up the video to see a not so obvious wiggle and have also slowed the video down to see why the car is tracking the way it is down the track. I am hoping by reviewing the race videos I am able to make a tune better by applying what I think I know to the tune of the car. This is the closest I can get to having a track. My goal is to have an extremely fast car without having a test track. Lofty goal? Yes! But I think it is possible.
It is amazing what you'll see when playing around with video playback speed.
Have fun!
