And it was a pretty good year for my two boys! I'm bummed that I'm going to miss the first NPWDRL race this year but I'm still cleaning graphite out of every nook and cranny in my shop!

Both the boys won their respective ranks in the pack race with the youngest setting the fast lap of the day on his second run in the morning. In the finals, the little guy took out big brother by .0017 for the title of Grand Pack Champion!

We had never made the finals in the district race before but this time the boys won their respective heats to advance to the finals. In a tight finish, big brother took the win with the little guy coming in second by only .0008! Third place was right there, only .0016 behind.

We had never stayed very long at the district race to know how it worked. Apparently, our district does not retire cars, even winners. Later in the heats there were scouts and dads coming in to the venue with the cars still attached to display stands! They would be unscrewed, lubed up, and run through inspection. I was really surprised but the PWD chair said it was ok because the boys are allowed to enter one car for each year they have been in scouts. It could be a new car or an entry from their previous years. Didn't matter in the end, since my boys dispatched them all. Here's the year's hardware:

Your probably a marked (possibly even hated) scout dad during the derby season....nice job by both you and your boys.

You know it! We've won the pack race three years in a row now so nobody wants to see us win again. My youngest is a Tiger this year so we have a few more years to irritate people here since I doubt he's going to take it easy on them. If anyone doesn't believe he's competitive, notice that even though his second place district trophy was shorter.......

The cool thing is, we get to bring these cars back to the district race next year along with a pair of new builds!

Awesome job BR and your boys, that's a clean sweep and some serious hardware! But the best part is their huge smile and learning an important life lesson that hard work pays off! Keep them motivated to build MA nationals race cars and the NY World championships race too!

Ben says he wants to send a car to Mid America so I'm making him some wheels now. He'll need to build a new car since his current one is a stock wheelbase. He's going to try making his own fenders also.

I love that line. Sounds like they were in a gunfight. I really like the thin blue line car.
