Shipping bags ?

Hey guys,
So this oil prep thing & shipping in bags so they don't dry out.
I use the standard white shipping box with the black foam.
Should I cut out a little relief in the foam to make room for the bag that gets bunched up ?
Or place the foam block car & all in the bag ? It is a much nicer job the 2nd way but will the oil evaporate into the foam block ?

My main reason for shipping in a bag is to keep debris out of the bores. Even the foam block will have little pieces of debris from cutting. (I use a heat gun to seal the foam after cutting) I would not bag the base foam in with the car.

Jup, I know exactly what you are talking about. I try to work the air out of the bag without putting a lot of pressure on the wheels. It ends up looking like a loose vacuum seal.

I can't remember who, but someone mentioned they use plastic wrap instead of a bag. I tried it last race and it worked.

Joel had a little video on that. He showed how DWS packaged his cars, and used cling wrap. I've tried it, as well but went back to the bag after a poor performance. I can't really blame the cling wrap, as I plain and simple didn't add enough oil for the 4 day trek to Utah.

when to oil, how much oil, which oil ? The videos help but we know there's more to it than that.

For me I cut the foam to the shape needed to hold the the car securely. Then car goes in bag, press car down snug into foam. Then close the ziplock with just enough left open and suck the air out. Yes, I said suck the air out. Hey, it works, is air tight and no worries about there being a big balloon of air trapped in the bag. No extra relief cut in foam needed. You want that thing as secure as possible.
Brian, sweet tip on the heat gun to seal up the foam cuts. Used to do that with rc plane foamies made of wall foam.
I’m afraid of wrapping a car too tight (affecting alignment???)or loose (evaporating oil) with cling wrap. Dan can pull it off. But he's also... Dan.
