Quick question ......... When hollowing out the center of a typical 1/4 inch thick wedge car that will be planked with 1/64 ply with a few balsa cross members, what thickness is recommended for the sides? Thanks! Based on the tremendous success of racers here, I am going to forgo my design which is sub three and learn from the experts.

1/8 thick by cubes 1/4 the rest of the car.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Is 1/64 ply the preferred covering material or momocote? Or a combo the two?

One or the other. Both together are to heavy.

How about 1/32 balsa and momocote? Is that being used? Thanks!

Balsa is hard to paint. Monocoat is the easy way and is used by several builders.

Thanks Rocket. There are various versions of Momocote some of which are extremely light weight. I'used it for years building RC planes. Will take a look!
