Silicone on Axles

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post here and I just want to say thanks a lot. There is an immense amount of knowledge here and have learned from what I have read. My question is about application of silicone to axles. I purchased the MaxPro Heavy Duty Lubricant. After you spray it on and let it cure, do you polish polish it off or just leave it the way it is after spraying?

Thanks for your help!

Dave

A heavy spray is fine with the Max-Pro, if you shake it, as Pony has described.

When I used the Chain-Saver, on the other hand, it left a thick waxy buildup that actually gunked the wheels. I did have to give it a wipe for that stuff. Glad Pony put me onto the Max-Pro.

No, Jig-a-Loo (and Max Pro) are only appropriate for oil prep. If you are using graphite to lubricate your car, considerusing Lemon Pledge or Sailkote as an axle treatment, instead.

So do you use jigaloo and max pro or is it one or the other - if it's one or the other which one is better? I have jig-a-loo currently

I have never tried both together. I guess it's another thing to try. I guess I would go with Jig if you have it. Max-Pro is tougher to find. I got mine last year at Walmart on-line. I see where they are out of supply of Max-Pro. I get my Jig in Canada during my fishing trips.

Oh I misunderstood your previous post I thought you meant you use them both on the same car.... Okay I will stick with jigaloo and search from the max- pro for another time. What part of Canada? I lived there for a couple years in Vancouver

What, a second hobby????? Where about do you go fishing? what specie/species do you target? More importantly, do you sit and ponder how to make your car faster while sitting in the boat? ;)

Boat is probably shaped like a derby car- with tungsten weights on end of the line

So what if any special instructions for the Lemon Pledge or Sailkote? Spray on , ...mist on, ... wipe on, ...shake off, ...wipe off, polish off ...? Any difference if using one or the other? Inquiring minds want to know. :D

You can always ask if anyone has any jig a loo for sale. Might be easier than going to Canada. Luckily I have a friend in Canada that mails me mine. You have to put special instructions on the box when mailing jig from Canada to usa. If I remember error correctly it was a code you put on the outside of the mailing box. Just to let customs know what is in it
