I remember folks experimenting with it, but I just cover the body with monokote, vinyl, metal tape, etc. I would not "fill" these voids with anything because the weight is not where I want it.
Will clear packaging tape work as well? I ask because for my kids, they have to be able to inspect the bottoms of the cars, the axles and all.
Yeah, all my ladder cars have packing tape on the underside. Only reason its not on the top of my Box Stock is because that has Monokote Trim kote on it which is adhesive backed and quite light. My Basico has tape on top holding down the covering.
Works well.
Weight were you want it vote. A noisy car indicates somethings wrong anyways...check you wheels for nicks and scratches. Check your axles are straight...I just got bit at February's APR race for that. The fast guys cars run quite and smooth not because of what they fill the car with....
Hey Wolf! I’ll be chasing after your Basico in April Lord willing! Won’t make Marches race but hope to come with more speed in April. March is Awana races and I’ll be using that track to hopefully get a good tune on the axles back to where he was last year.
Hi Jimmy. I'll be chasing everyone if I mess another car up. Had another basico for February, but it ran terrible. Found out it had a bent rear axle. Not sure how that happened, but it was a dog (haha woof woof!). Went from running 2.961s to 2.99s!! I was just super happy to break the 2.96 mark with #3 though and Dale even gave me a birthday present to run in Pro Stock! (How cool is getting a full up car handed to you from a PWD legend!)
I gotta start expanding from Basico and get into some other classes. I've always wanted to build a street pro, so that's what I got going now. There's just something about the reverse mount wheels that I like...except I just can't get time to cut a new body. It seems to take forever for me to make a new car these days. I spent an entire month suffering from the drops and busted 2 cars up before I got #3 finished, then helping scouts out in Jan and Feb. March is my month...gonna get that Street pro done so everyone can watch me get burned...hahaha.
I've also got a young...well, not scout...but PWD racer I'm helping that has one of the strangest car kits I've seen. YMCA races. Solid front and rear axles, tiny E clips retainers and some very unique wheels. It's got me looking for stuff that will work with it. So far, I can't find a good swab to fit the wheels. Bores are 0.108 in diameter!

A car from Dale!?! no way! That is awesome... I can't go live as its a 4 hour drive at least for me to Cambridge. Well, I do plan on going at least once a year and make a weekend camping trip out of it.

) a shot and that was my first car run on all my own prep so that has me pretty stoked. I was real pleased with how my BS ran last weekend. I am seriously limited with not much tooling so I will be sticking to the slower more basic classes till I really get the hang of it. Pure Stock is up next for me.
