In reference to 5Kids post. I think the word "pinks" may have scared some and maybe that's why it didn't take off.

Also, just another thought. What if buying the kit included entry into the first event? It could always be made as an option when choosing to buy. I believe that it takes some prodding to build up enough courage to send a car in for the first time, it can be intimidating. Maybe this would be just the ticket of encouragement some one needs to send in.

That's why I don't play poker. I might as well walk up, put five bucks on the table, and walk out.

And I think that Gravity is exactly right on this. I do like the idea of a $10 car a lot more than a $30 car.

I like it as a "spec" race and keeping it low cost. It could be an opportunity to see where your prep is in relations to others. Especially if it is with a fixed wheelbase and pre-shaped blocks with no fenders. I would like pre-drilled also. I would likely try it regardless of the rules.

Cost can add up quickly when you have the cost of the kit, shipping, and entry fee. Then the time you allocate to build it. Some may decide to get a new set of wheels or some Gee fenders and focus on their regular cars instead. So I think you should look at total cost and time and not just look at kit cost. And for those that don't drill their own holes they would be less likely to participate.

I really do not care about prizes or money since I am still on the quest for speed. I would be more concerned with the total cost. Skip the prizes and keep the cost down. Race for bragging rights.

Maybe include the race entry fee in the kit cost. Especially if John is selling them for near his cost. If they are shaped and have pre cut pockets he will have some time into them. That could help motivate people to follow through and race them if they buy them.

A bonus would be if they are something people could upgrade to race in the street stock class in the future.
