Speed Question

Hello all, I'm trying to figure out where I stand on speed overall. I only have my pack races to go off of and really just this last race, because I paid no attention to the prior year.

We have a 40 foot aluminum track. I don't do the set up so I'm not sure what the drop is, I'm assuming its standard for all tracks? Anyway I ran a 3.052. Our rules say all 4 wheels have to be touching. It was the fastest time for the races this year and I think someone said it was a new track record but I'm seeing time in the mid 2's on a lot of post. Do we just suck locally at making fast cars or does that extra wheel touching slow things down that much?

Every track is different. When you get to a certain point, you can tell how fast your car is to the thousandth on the same track, aka a league track or a test track. The mid 2’s you are seeing are tracks that are shorter in length, so no, you aren’t that far off, Lol. You CANNOT compare scout tracks unfortunately because they have been taken down e dry year and the times will change. There is just too much variation to say one scout car fe faster than the other if they’ve never ran on the same track.

I’d imagine that the speed decrease from having all four wheels touching is somewhere between 0.02-0.03 of a speed decrease if it’s a polished wheel and axle, but that’s just a guess.

I have know idea what any of that means. I don't have access to a track but once a year when we race and then only while it's actually racing. How do I go about getting a baseline?
