SR build day!

I agree... I just searched for Dodge models with pointed noses. The Daytona is 8 7/8" long. The Salt Flat Racer is 9 1/2".

It looks to me like the switch has been thrown from "cool, pre-'75 muscle cars" to "most streamlined 1:25 scale model I can find".

Not for me! '57 T-bird is in process. It did come with an optional fastback hardtop but it just looks too strange to use.

My first car was going to be that Daytona. Bought it, walked out of store, then I saw the dimensions (8.75) walked back in then traded for the car I built. It had a long wheel base too.

Zeebs has this one(daytona). It looks cool ,but its to long. I have just the right size dodge!!!

Too bad it's only Revell and AMT that are allowed. Because it would be fun to build and race a polar lights 1:25 speed racer mach one.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!! I thought about that too. My last car had a diagram of speed racer on it. OK I think someone mention finding a Porsche 911, will that work within the rules?

There is a 1:25 porsche carrera.

My local hobby shop has one I believe. It's on my list of future builds. Super short wheel base though.

I would hate to be the guy that has to stage the Mach 5. That pointy nose would be sliding off the start peg worse that those 70's vettes were doing.

I have one, and started the build. I put it on the back burner after my spray can blew texture (read: glops of paint) all over the body.

This is my childhood dream car. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

The body is < 7", and only 2 3/4" wide -- so it could be run in a standard PWD (if they'll allow a shorter wheelbase). The wheelbase is short. And the body is narrow. It will be a challenge to fit the wheels into the wheel wells as the tires are decidedly smaller than PWD wheels. Either it or an SS will be my next build.

Here's an eBay search for Porsche models: 1:25 scale Porsche Models

You can find 911's all over the place. What you want is a 928 Porsche. Hard to find. If anyone knows of a source, please let me know. OPA

Well... I'm getting ready to put the big pants on. Not sure that I will make it for the MOTM Championships or not. It just depends on how troubling the build will be, it's kind of a radically shaped car. Not so sure it's as sleek as the AeroVette or not though, but we'll see. I'll push as hard as I can to make it for the MOTM.
