Wondering about how much steer to put in a car that has a 5 3/8 wheel base a 5/8 com running dynasty 1.7s running fenders in back . Axles are johns pro 92s. Race is on best track 42 feet. I've heard 4-6 inches is that correct. Car has 2 1/2 cant rears 3 degrees drilled can't + 2 1/2 bent can't in front
District wii be on 49 ft track any difference
Don't have track to run on?

With that wheel base you should be good around that 4 inches over 4ft. Best of luck to you guys on your race. Are you oil or graphite?

Graphite
Is it better to go to a 5 inch wheel base with more steer. Will it be faster?
Rules only allow graphite
Ive read just about every post in these forums . It sounds like I should maybe go to a shorter wheel base but the long wheel base is allowed.

Either wheel base will be fine, THere is not that much difference in times. My only question is why did you drill cant in the front. The bent axle covers the cant. I have found drilling the cant and using a bent axle to definitely be slower. If you are steering 3 to 4 inches over 4 feet you should be fine. If you can't tune on the track it is best to go conservative.

I've read that I need a total of about 5 degrees positive cant. I thought drilling 3 degrees and bending 2 1/2 would make it easier to tune . The angle at which it rubs on the body is at the same angle either way. I've also read that a five degree bent axle can't fit though wheel. Does that make sense. What is the difference???

Remember can't use washer for fdw has to rub on body. I have replaced the wood around where the wheel touches the body with a product named acra glass ( epoxy)for less wear on the body. last car won first place but wear was evident on body. Both bodies are at 90 degrees to the bottom of the car.

Another question I saw cars running 3.55 on 49 ft track at district last year, what does that equal on 42 ft track?? That will give me an idea where I need to be at pack. Both with manual gates.. Thx

Weight in rear is 3.6 ounces of tungsten.
