I have some graphite from a hobby lobby XLR8 ultra graphite. It comes with an applicator bottle that seems really well designed so for the question... Is the graphite any good? Where does it rank in your opinions?
Thanks,

Overall, it is deemed as slower than Hob-E-Lube, which is slower than DD4H's stuff. That being said, I have done all my graphite burnishing using Hob-E-Lube, but once the wheels are installed, I've used the XLR8 stuff due to the handy-dandy applicator needle.

Two consecutive Den/Pack/District championships won that way.

I keep being tempted to empty the XLR8 bottle, and then put Hob-E-Lube graphite in it instead, but my cheapness has always gotten in the way (as I don't want to just toss this graphite I spent money on). And I don't know if the Hob-E-Lube is fine enough to go through the tip or not.

If you look under the graphite lube on DD4H site John has the comparisons to the other "top" graphites. I've used the Max V lube before, but read my thread under general PWD. I used Johns lube to burnish, prep and pre-race. Times speak for themselves. Most consistant and fastest times were runs 9-12, which most graphite best times are runs 2-7 and wear off from 8-10.

Booya & Eric-

I just ordered mine from John this morning.. I am going to try and take the extentions you can buy for CA glue tips and try that to John's bottle. This will allow me to apply Graphite like the XRL8 applicator does... Hopefully... I have both XRL8 and Hob E Lube from the past .. Used both this weekend on my sons car.. I can't wait to see the difference John's product has to offer.. It has High reviews from a lot of people ...

I was told from a wise man to use a stirring straw and cut the end of it at an angle and scoop the graphite with it and apply where desired.

I have noticed my fastest runs are in the 6-10 range on dd4h graphite, won pack and
district on it. I have not used any other graphite yet on my own cars so I really have nothing
to compare it too. I burnished mine in with the wax and I did get quite a few runs on it before it really slowed down.

I never had any luck with the XLR8. The HOB E Lube to me seems faster than the XLR8. I think when I place my next order I am going to get some of John's graphite.

I normally apply John's when I install the wheels, after that it is hard to apply if you are using drilled holes. We have to use slots, so I epoxy mine and then drill into the slots. I also like tight gaps which make it harder and I don't like pulling wheels once they are installed. I normally switch to Hob E Lube for re-lubes. I think both are faster than Max V, John's is faster than Hob E Lube, but not as convenient. The product is great, just don't like the bottle. Hob E Lube always seems the fastest when it is first opened, John's doesn't seem to have an expiration time, using same bottle as last year and still fast. With all of that being said, I still HATE GRAPHITE! John's oil and applicator is SWEET!
