Street Stock change! POLL VOTE NOW!!!

As a total novice with only scout car building experience, this idea interests me as a low pressure and fun way to begin to learn the ropes of league racing.

Also, with a novice class this would move some of the slower cars out of the AM, helping the AM class also. JMO

I think this is a good idea. Very similar to the three Street Stock Classes offered at the Nationals.

I think if a new racer purchases a smokin' fast, complete, prepped, and tuned car, then they should not be allowed to race in the novice or amature classes.

What would be the criteria for racing Pro?

In my opinion, there are racers that can break the current 2.98 average Street Stock Pro criteria, but they are too far off pace to be competitive in the Pro class.

That being said, I like the idea of a sub 2.97 average to be the criteria for racing Pro.

What is your opinion?

John?

Would this start before the upcoming race?
Yes

I agree, no purchased cars in Novice. Not sure you can keep them from Am.

I also don't think you can keep people from running in the pro class if that is what they choose. I will say that once you go pro you are there for good.

Whatever you class you start in is what you will race the 4 month series in.

Where's the line between Am and Pro? Many Am's raced the MOTM series throughout and ran times to qualify them for the Pros. Are they still required to still move out of the Am class? I understand once Pro, your there, no looking back. Does it become the choice of the racer at this point to choose to move out of the AM class?

I think that those guys that raced the WHOLE/MOST of the Amatuer MOTM series and raced in the Grand Finals should move up. They worked hard and were ready to move up, and had already been told they could move up. They were sub 2.98, won races, etc. They've already beaten the other Amateurs, wouldn't that be discouraging? I was in the Finals, but I know I don't qualify, I know I need to find more speed.

How would it work for sub 2.97 average, just one race?

I think it sounds good. Try it and if it works out good then keep it. If not eliminate it after nationals.

I think it should attract more and help keep interest. Plus it gives you a chance to race against similar skill levels for a while. I like the option of moving up if you want.

I would consider Novice monthly or series winners getting moved up for winning. I think the same for Am class. If you win you get moved up regardless. That will add some additional winners and a chance for others in the lower levels. I would not force non-winners to move up in class unless they want to.

I ran sub 2.98 my first time out and immediately was thrown to the wolves. To win at the pro level seems like it will take more time than I can commit to. So I will keep trying for some gains and be happy when I can run mid-pack.

How about 50 cars, 50 classes, everybody wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding I really like the idea of the Novice class.

Id be all for it!!! I've only built 2 cars other than our official derby cars and raced one of them way back at the Somerset Ky. race which did miserably/images/boards/smilies/frown.gif I guess we need to see how many more like me there are that are still green and be up for racing the entire series. If there aren't enough racers interested I'd be fine racing AM but really don't want to race against bought cars made by a PRO, just sayin'.

I think it's a good idea. I like the idea of Ams move up if you earn the sub 2.97. That would make us all work harder to reach the top. All of us racers want to reach the top. Let's get the season started and see how things turn out. I know there where some smokin fast cars in the AM class during the MOTM races.

I do agree if you buy a loaded car then you should right to the pro class.

Cars, tech, and information has gotten better over the last year but I feel like 2.98 is still a good level to bump to pros. Yes there were a lot of fast cars in the AM in MOTM (faster than 2.98) and a few faster than 2.97, a lot of these same guys have track or easy access to tracks. And yes, there were a few without also.

I was looking forward to racing at the pro level, but was a little discouraged watching them run. The gap between sub 2.98 and what the pro level was doing is quite a lot. I enjoy a challenge and will do everything I can to catch them, but I can see myself getting discouraged after getting my rear-end handed to me race after race.

It didn’t take me long to catch up, pass and then become the target at the scout level. But this is well beyond the scout level.

I’m all for the new class, but I also look forward to racing with the Pros.
