I am overseas with the Military and my two cub scouts have districts in the morning. I know districts they check the cars with a fine tooth comb so I just hope their scale is the same as last year. I helped them get their cars ready before I headed out but who knows what they have done to t hem since. Last year my oldest (tiger scout) came in 7th overall and won Tigers and his brother came in 4th in siblings. This year my oldest is in wolves and my youngest is in sibling again. I just hope they do well and have fun at the same time I hope they can at least place higher then last year and show progress. Most of you could imagine not being their for your kids during the race. (not being able to help fix the car if something goes wrong, not passing tech etc..) Fingers crossed that all goes well. Will update when its over. Stressing out for them from afar.

I can relate to not being there. I spent 33+ years as a full time firefighter. I missed a few of TBR jr's races and it was hard. At least I was able to be around the day before or the day after. When things didn't go well for us ( and that happened more often than I would like to admit) I used it as a learning opportunitiy to teach motivation and perseverance. I did not find this site until 2 days before his final Pack race as an AOL.

Thanks I think my boys will take all the luck they can get. I have learned a ton from this group of racers and hobbiests on here, and appreciate it a ton. I can’t believe how I got bit by this hobby. My wife thinks I am crazy but I am sure some of you can relate.

I feel you. I’m a worrier and your situation would kill me! I worry too much about check in as is when I can go, so I can’t imagine not being able to go. Check in flat out stresses me out. I just know that they are going to find an infraction and I’ll have to adjust and kill all the work I’ve put in to tune the car. If that happens, then comes the stress of that first run after fixing the infraction. Not knowing what to expect is tough. I like to have some idea before I race of what to expect. This happened to us this year. Had to make a change to my daughter’s car at check in. Thankfully it was still fast. But that waiting to find out if it was...brutal.

Yes, hope it all goes smooth and no hang ups at check in. They are on there way there now so we will see how check in goes pretty soon here. When they get through that I am sure it will be fine. Maybe that will make my nerves relax a bit too. It just sucks on top of that being almost 9 hours ahead of eastern time.
Totally understand brother! Been there...24 YOS and counting! But as it was mentioned above, this is the best place to learn and have fun! You should be good to go. Just make sure you have them take tons of pics for you and us...

Well check in went fine, I think one weighed in at 4.994 and the other at 4.983. My wolf sons car started out pretty good 3.04 at 224 mph but it slowed way down for some reason and ended up running 3.08. Not sure what happed there but he got third in the wolves and 12 overall. My youngest won siblings race with a 3.09. Their cars were a lot faster at the pack race but I had to change both dominant wheel axles from degreed at the pack race to straight for districts. Districts have to be flat rolling and even with 1.5 degrees on dominate front wheel it would not run flat. I know just that change slowed it down for them. The fast car ran 2.993. I was floored when my wife told me that. Anyway the boys brought home awards but did not go as good as last year. If any of you know how to make a three wheel rail rider run completely flat on the track and run 2,993 or faster with graphite onl. Please let me know. I will be back at the drawing board when I get home. Pretty bummed for my oldest but it is a good lesson of sportsmanship. Thanks for the support, at least they stayed together and finished all the heats.

used stock axle cut outs but drilled with the pine car jig (stock location is a rule but says some little blurb that id the cut out is messed up you move axles 1/4" but the front has to be the same stock distance from the front and same center to center) not sure how that works.
used lead for weight and COG is at 3/4"
body 1/4" in back and narrowed to very thin in front
FDW side cut in a bit to keep rear wheel off rail
stock axles polished to 2000 grit wet and then Mothers mag polish then I used pledge
FDW axle slightly bent for adjustability but kept wheel flat on ground
tuning board 4"-5" off center toward non dominate side
wheels stock trued up with wheel shaver and bores polished with Novus2
Graphite DD4H
wheel gap eye balled it but less than that perfect wheel gap deal that derby worx sells
Built this car before joining this forum. I added the pledge after joining though
I have ordered the silver bullet, so that will help most likely and ordered DD4H red rocket. I also have all the tungsten cubes I need now also.

However, the positioning of these slots may not change more than 1/4”; the original wheelbase (distance between the front and rear axles, center to center) must not change; and the distance between the front axle and the front of the car shall not be modified. Congratulations! I would be happy with those results. Sounds like you were competitive. Districts can vibe tough. It’s the best if the best. I’m sure you will learn and do even better next year. You are definitely in the right place to improve!
