Stupid Idea ?

Ok, let's say the rules say "you must have 4 wheels", but rules say not all four need to touch the track / ground and the rules don't specefy a minimum size or weight for the wheels.

How about a Hot Wheels car wheel for the fourth wheel? No weight to speak of and minimal air drag due to size.

Ok, maybe this is a stupid idea. Thoughts?

I've seen variations of this. For example, NPWDRL street stock permits the use of Pinecar wheels, so long as the wheel is 7.5mm wide and weighs at least 2 grams. Turns out you can cut a Pinecar wheel down to pretty small (compared to a BSA wheel) and still maintain these parameters.

Not sure how much of a difference this sort of thing makes if the car is wrapped in LB-style fenders, but at the league level, aero definitely is a factor, and nothing is too minor to consider for optimization.

Does it say you have to use all the parts in the kit?

It was a purely a hypothetical question. I have no intent of trying it ... I think?

I've heard of this, though I haven't seen one.

I must say, hypothetical almost never comes out the way you think it will in this hobby. The very best way to learn is to actually try the things you think will hypothetically work and then figure out why your hypothesis was incorrect. PWD is cruel, she'll laugh at the very smart people as they rack their very large brains because it just don't make sense, LOL.
