Am I the only one on here that has a hard time building cars this time of year?? With the weather being so nice I get pulled in all different directions. I was unable to get a car entered into the 1st Fire series race because my order was backlogged 6 weeks. Now that I have the parts I find myself being constantly distracted by my kids. Time to stop complaining and focus I guess!! I will be entering 2 cars for the 18th race....

It's tough, I'm doing yet another remodel on my home this summer, side jobs stacking up and wife works nights so its a strugle to get time for the hobby...

I'm not sure how valid it is, but I've not even tried to work on the SR bodies I have because it is too hot to paint. The paint has been drying before it hits the car, resulting in some pretty bad orange peel. But now that we're starting our monsoon season (humidity was at 71% this morning after 1.5" of rain last night — we typically have a <=10% humidity level, and 6" of rain per year here in Albuquerque), maybe I can try for another coat of paint...

Hey Crash, I use lacquer retarder to slow my finish from drying too fast. Summer months are tough, I need a cabinet door wet while spraying, if it's too hot by the time I'm half way done with a door the finish is dry and will pick up overspray rather then meld and dry uniformly. I like lacquer for street rod as well, I can tint it any color, but I'm shre most finishes have a solvent for this purpose. Good luck man you make some awesome rods!

I was struggling with building cars after Nationals. Getting my head handed to me in the first Fire Series race, has renewed my motivation.
Time to start climbing back up that mountain!

This is an attitude of a champ! Good luck Crane!

I'm pushing through, it's tough. The summer months bring long days of work and tired evenings. And the heat doesn't help either.

The weather in the Milwaukee, WI area has been really great. Its been tough to build any cars when there is a lot of summer time activities that can be done.

Never the less I have managed to re-prep a BASX car and a SS car. I had an old pre-drilled body that I glued 3 wood fenders on it to make a SP. I also have a new Eliminator with a ladder style body. The Eliminator will be running non acrylic wheels so I don't know how competitive it will be. I still need to clean bearings on my Unlimited car.

As a top racer told me, keep building cars to learn and get faster, so I am taking his advice. Future builds I'm planning on are, 2 new SS cars and 1 new SP.
