T minus 5 days to race day

Hey chalk, I dont doubt the finished surface of your axles turned out amazing. Something to think about in the future if you have a digital caliper you may wanna keep an eye on your axle diameters with that much work being done to them. Maybe you already do, I know i used to get so carried away trying to get the finish i wanted i didnt realize i was thinning them down as much as i was. Im always trying different approaches to polishing axles trying to figure out the best combo without reducing the diameter especially when im using more expensive axles.

I hear you, a digital caliper is on my list of tools I need.

Just a suggestion...

On the bottom, use 3M 3350 HVAC tape. It is thin (like 4 mil), and it is extremely tacky. You can pull it back and reapply it when needed... That is what I and a lot of league racers use.

$10 per roll at Lowes
The steggo tape is also 3 to 4 mils just sharing what I used. I get it for free at work and use it for all kinds of stuff at home. It sticks to any surface wet or dry.
