Almost out of my good tape (at least the best I know of) and can't find any better. So I thought I'd do a little research and see what others are using.

1. Tyco Adhesives (Nashua tape no numbers) Old Roll, Aluminum tape, Med Weight nice and sticky and doesn't leave a residue behind. This is an old roll and I can't find it anymore. allows maybe 5-8 weight changes.

2. Nashua tape, (no numbers on it) Aluminum tape, has a brownish/gold backing. Found this at Home Depot and thought it would be a good replacement. But its too thin. only allows 3-5 weight changes. No residue though

3. Nashua (FlexFix) aluminum Tape, Very thin very sticky and expensive. 4-6 weight changes. But leaves a nasty residue behind.

4. Shurtape af912, I read that Kinser liked this tape. Kinser you still using this?

Please and thanks!

This is the tape I use. I picked it up at the local automotive store like AutoZone.

Scotch® Aluminum Foil Tape 3311 Silver, an aluminum alloy foil with a pressure-sensitive adhesive and paper liner.
  • High tack rubber adhesive, 2.0 mil backing thickness, linered
  • Aluminum foil tape for difficult to adhere to surfaces such as low surface energy substrates, rated for UL 723
  • Resists flame, resists moisture, resists weather, resists UV degradation, chemical resistant tape, thermally conductive tape for heating and cooling efficiency, heat reflective tape, light reflective tape, conformable tape

LOL GravityX "Resists flame" maybe it right up my alley!

I still use the Shurtape af912. I'm not sure it meets all of your criteria though. It leaves a residue and is only good for 3-4 careful weight changes (it will tear). After multiple weight changes I still switch it out for a new piece. I still have most of the roll and it will likely last me for many years of racing.
