Thanks all for the help this year. My boy took 1st in the NorthernStar Council race today on 64' Best Track, LED lights and all. Thank you Microbrush for your awesome wheel covers. Average 3.7509 over 6 heats.

Good thing we weren't racing Microbrush or Lightninboy's sons because they were much faster and placed 1st in their respective races. Cubscoutdad's boy also took a 1st.

Yeah, beautiful car and trophy ! Congrats !

I can't believe how late in the Spring some of these races go.

No kidding. Our District race was in March. The car stayed in a box until this week when we pulled it out. We prepped the car the night before the race and even still "touching up" prior to the race. Funny how it still sneaks up like that.

Heck yes! Way to go! What a way to to finish up your boy's cub scout racing career!

Putting my boy to bed tonight I asked him what he was thinking when they got to 3rd place and hadn't called his name yet (trophies go to the top 10). He said he thought that maybe there was still a chance but maybe he didn't place. He said when they called his car number then name for 1st Place he almost jumped into the air but tried to stay calm. He said it felt like a dream then he said "Thanks Dad" and put his head down on the pillow.

You're right VK, awesome way to end a racing career.

Congratulations Davet!

It was great to finally meet you! You do look like Ray Romano. Wonderful that you had such a large crew to cheer you on and see your hard work pay off! Congratulations to all of the racers. It is a tough council for sure. It is a great race that is run and organized extremely well. Heats are run quickly and the trophies are awesome. Thank you to everyone who helped. Thanks again Twisted Iron. I was standing right next to you I guess again and didn't even know it. I looked later for you to say hello and introduce myself, but never saw you again. It was a busy day as my kids had a baseball tournament weekend and the last game got done at 10:15 PM.

Congratulations to Cubscoutdad and TNT and all of the others kids!

Oh yes, and to Tom's kid Zachary. Congratulations!!! You took home the overall best performance for sure.

I loved your lights, they were awesome, Davet; that was a great decision on your part to have the lights. It was a great way to end your son's scouting derby experience!

Congratulations! Nice looking car and great paint job. I really like the car. Can you post more pics of the car?

Thanks. This was my son's second choice design pick for last year if his aircraft carrier car hadn't panned out. You asked for it.

Cool Design. Is that a paint job or skin? Thanks for posting the pics.

Photo chosen from Google Images copied onto photopaper then epoxied onto car. Same picture copied again then cut to lay over the fenders. Epoxied onto the cross drilled, balsa fenders for strength. Glossy clear coat over it all when done.

Congrats!!! This race gets faster every year!!! Microbrush ....maybe next year...lol
Dave I was Leary about no front fenders..worked out ok

We were too but after watching LB's Science Museum video I figured they were better than none at all. We liked the look and needed a place to mount lights. We thought if the LED's shined to the side there would be no issue with a timer.

FWIW, even LEDs that shine straight down should not affect the timer, since it is a breaking of the beam that triggers the finish.
