Thanks to everyone for all of the help. I have been lurking for close to a year while spending way too much time here while at work. I have helped my two older sons create Cub cars over the years and even though we got a few second and third place trophies my youngest son and I got serious this year. He painted it himself and we work on the COM teaching him about why we need the weight in the back. He polished the axles and wheel himself with some help.
He swept all 6 of his den heats and the 6 pack heats. So with two championship trophies for the year we headed to the district race with high hopes. I have volunteered at the race before and I can recognize cars with aftermarket wheels and axles with slots for rail riding.
I was really nervous when his car ran its first race. Only to have it beat the track record! From there he won all of the rest of the Webelos races as well as sweep the 6 heats in the championship round. He is very excited right now he is trying to decide if he should pull the axles and wheels to save for next year or send it in for one of the NPWDRL races to see how good it really is.
