Folks, the Northern Star Council race has added an open division which allows anyone to race!

This is not proxy, but it does allow anyone from outside the council to appear and race in the open division. The open rules are identical to the scout rules (the BEST scout rules in the nation). For all the details see the following link:

http://www.northernstarbsa.org/2017-pinewood-derby-3

So come join us in one of the coolest and most competitive scout races in the country!

Also, I made a rookie mistake and was jibber-jabberin' at LB when both of our cars raced each other. Neither of us saw the results. Sorry again LB. I'll put a yellow rear bumper on my car next race.

What makes the Northern Star Council so cool, you ask?

Two xtra long tracks!

And archery and concessions and ... last but not least ... Twisted Iron laying down the law on illegal wheels!!

As you can see - a great event. I also enjoyed finally meeting CubScoutDad and DaveT in person.

Meanwhile, my NSC car "Jack Butler" remains undefeated. So who's going come out next year and challenge Jack Butler? If you are wondering how to get to the NSC Council race to cut heads with Jack Butler, just remember ...

Looks like a blast! Couldn't get the you tube link to work tho. Could be cuz of my phone maybe...
Thanks for sharing!

Lb's car had orange monokote on the surface. As it went down the long 54' track it passed under bright ceiling lights. When it did that the orange flashed as if it had lights in the car. I even asked him if it had lights. It was a pretty cool car. He has thrown down the challenge. I'll be there next year to watch his car from behind again, I'm sure, but it is an awesome event.
The spectators sitting on the second level really gives it a NASCAR feel, at least to me it did. They remind me of the RV spectators sitting on the roofs of their RV's at NASCAR races.

Yeah, you will have to copy/paste the youtube link into a browser. The forum software doesn't seem to handle youtube videos with a time index. So I had to put it in a code block to keep the forum software from embedding the video at time 0.
