Hey Y'all I just got my block and I have noticed that so far none of my official pinewood derby blocks fit within the groves. Just wondering if my THE BLOCK is off or is that something that happen alot?

Hey EPOP , that is pretty common. The blocks of wood are not always the perfect size.. Just put a sheet of 220 to 320 on a piece of nice flat block of wood and sand the sides down till the wood block fits nice and snug in your Silver Bullet . Then your ready to drill and build....SPIRIT....Also if the wood block fits real loose in your Silver Bullet , use that piece for firewood. !!!!!!!!

Yeah i had kinda thought that might be the next step to fix the issue jsut wanted to make sure that I was not doing something wrong. Thanks for the tip.

Is it possible to use my dremel drill press effectively with my silver bullet or is it time to look for a small table top type press?

I use the dremel for polishing axles and a Proxxon for drilling holes. The Proxxon is very nice...

x2 Seems to work great. I like having one tool for one purpose, it helps speed up the building process for me.

Just got my 2 new drill bits from DD4H Chucked the stubby one up in my Dremel Press and it drill great. So Much nicer that to that old #44 I got form that other tool thingy. Now just to work out some alignments and start to build a new car. How I can work out the cant and such.

I used the search function but did not find any real info for my question. The title of this thread best represents my question but the content in this thread does not answer it.

What to purchase- Jewkes The Block or DD4H silver bullet? I would like some unbiased information on both please. They look to be simaler in design, but looks can be deceiving. Can you guys please give me more details. Is one preffered over the other for specific purposes? Whats the good, and the bad if any about each. Thanks.

Ted.

I have seen both. Quality of both the same and functions of both the same. One difference is price !!!!! Therefor buy Silver Bullet and use extra money saved to buy other needed items . Just my 2 cents or better my 20 dollars opinion. Plus DD4H " Customer Service" 2nd to none.....SPIRIT.........

Been there done that, Buy the silver bullet and get a set of Johns

92 axles and there wood be money for a coffee too!!!!!

GOOD LUCK RACING.

+1,000,000,000,000,000 is that enough. Johns customer service is second to none.

Thank you! Thats just what I needed to know. Silver bullet it is!

Next question. I noticed you fellas drill your axles with the silver bullet, drill press, and a stubby bit. Then go on to finish the axle holes with a jobber bit.

Just curious, What is the reason for the two step process?

Do you guys all use a pin vise with the jobber bit or do you finish it with the press?

Nevermind. John answered my question via Chat. He said to forget the stubby bit and just use the carbide jobber length.
