Is there really any benefit to using nail polish or superglue when you're running graphite? I mean, if you rub a good amount of graphite into sanded wood until you get a silvery finish, it feels pretty darn slick to the touch. My understanding is that the coating (teflon, nail polish, ca glue, etc) is to prevent the oil (if , indeed, you're running oil) from causing the wood grains to rise, which would cause for a rougher surface.
Is it the nail protector or the polish? It seems Teflon Tuff is just the name on a few products. Can you specify which one please? The clear Teflon Tuff was the stuff everyone was after. As mentioned, it is no longer available, unless what you are seeing is old stock.
Per the label, "Extra Strength Nail Protector" Product number 2615Is it the nail protector or the polish? It seems Teflon Tuff is just the name on a few products. Can you specify which one please?
I use the nail polish with graphite as well. There is an advantage as the polish will be a harder surface than the bare wood coated with graphite. The DFW will cut into the wood. The coating of nail polish or CA will hold up much better.
Thank you! I will try CA glue and graphite burnish I think. No, it doesn't. At least not if you're running positive camber in the front.
Are you painting your car like normal and then after it dries placing the super glue around the axle hole and then sanding and polishing? Or are you blocking the area of your axle hole with painters tape and then painting so that you have a painted car except for the axle hole areas and then applying the super glue onto bare wood?I agree that super glue is a great option. Just polish it like you would polish plastic and wax it too. We did this on all our scout cars in the past and I used it in the box stock class as well. The acronym KICASS applies here.
We've used ca on wood and paint. The trick is to use half a drop on a toothpick and spread it carefully around the hole, let it dry on its side so it's sets evenly then repeat for the other side. For bare wood we applied ca as a sealer first then a second coat. Are you painting your car like normal and then after it dries placing the super glue around the axle hole and then sanding and polishing? Good stuff- so many things to try so little timeI build fishing rods and use thread wrap epoxy, dries hard and clear. Put a little wax on it and its like ice......
