The next level!!

Damn BSB... Way to kill a thread. I thought I could be entertained with this discussion all day today, but no...

OK Scott for your entertainment pleasure here goes...............just to satisfy my curiosity, I put a small amount of molasses across the nose of my best mod (eliminator) to see what it would do. That car ran .006 to .007 faster instantly. I cleaned it off.............BAM.............right back to the old times! Hummmmmm!

For SS. I agree to no material being added, but any machining down to 2.0 g.

However, for SP, I would agree to material being added, but with 7.5 wide wheels. Let that class be for wild expermentation.

Incidently, Quicktime was wondering what wheels and nails everybody was running. MIne are the Cheetah's with DD4H's new axles for the SS class.
---------------------------
ANOTHER OBSERVATION:
I have been racing for 1.5 years now, and with the exception of Dash4Cash in August, I have never placed first in any class.
In Auguest I finally placed 1st with a time of 2.9674. In that same race, SoGone's time was 2.9730.
When the cars were returned, I took my SS car up so SoGone's track so we could see what the difference was. We ran the two cars several times, and the times were absolutely identicle, except his track is only 34' long. The only difference we could detect was that my COM was much more aggressive. The drift was the same. Dave (SoGone) surmised that the difference might have been because the aggressive COM might have been an advantage over the next 8 foot longer track.
HOWEVER, because my car did so good in August, I left it absolutely untouched for the September race, and ended up coming in 9th placee, being surpassed by several cars that it beat in August. WHY?
In Utah, the elevation was high, at least 4500 feet, the temperature hot and a very dry humidity. I don't know what KY was like, but I assume much more humid, lower elevation (Temperature I don't know).
How much do you think Humidity, elevation, and tempertature effect a car?

Cam Car is the very last person that would ever cheat. He is at the forefront of advancement and creatively making the cars faster. Always has been and he has taught me as much as anyone ever has. I am very curious to see what the difference would be also.

As far as the shady stuff, the main thing that has come about is someone trying to apply a tacky surface to the front of their car and then press it against the pins when staging it. The telltale sign of this going on is if the pins fall over when someone is staging. I know we all want to believe that everyone is above board and can go by the honor code but it just isn't true. 99% are honest but there is always the 1% sneaking around. I will say this, it is no regular participant of the NPWDRL doing these things. The other issue would be excessive handling of the cars in between races. My first ever big live event at Lima, I witnessed somebody stick a weight to the bottom of their car before a race. It woke me up real quick. They still didn't win but it was a shock. Like I have said all along, we are nearing a point that all the shadys that used to foul up our sport are nearly gone. It is evident because of the large numbers we are getting. One bad apple spoils the whole bunch.

I would also think, if a previous record was shattered that might also be a tell tale sign? I know how hard it is to set a record and when they get broken, it is most times only by a thou or two.

AS FAR AS SAYING RECORD BREAKING RUNS ARE A TELL TALE SIGN..NOT NECESSARILY. AT THE CFC THIS MONTH IN THE PRELIMS, MY YOUNGINS CAR SET THE TRACK RECORD ON ITS LAST PASS..I PUT THE CAR ON THE SCALE..DNA WAS MY WITNESS, THE CAR WEIGHED 4.9 OZ OR 140 GRAMS..PLUS THE NOSE OF THE CAR WAS SLICK NOT STICKY. THE CAR DID NOT RACE IN THE FINALS BECAUSE I CHOSE TO PULL THE CAR TO ALLOW A LEAGUE CAR IN, INSTEAD OF MY SONS CAR. BUT I CALLED JOHN AND ASKED HIS PERMISSION TO STAGE HIS CARS AND HE SAID OK..I ONLY WANTED TO SEE IF I COULD GET ANYMORE SPEED OUT OF HIS CAR THAN WHAT IT WAS DOING.. GOATBOY, THIS IS IN NO WAY ANY KIND OF SHOT AT YOU..YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB STAGING ALL THE PROXY CARS THAT DAY MY FRIEND!!!! AND I WAS BLE TO PULL A RABBIT OUT OF THE HAT AND PICK UP OVER A HUNDREDTH JUST BY THE WAY I STAGED THE CAR, NOTHING ILLEGAL..AS I SHARED MY STAGING IDEA WITH EVERYONE THERE. LET'S DROP ALL THE POO, AND GET BACK TO WHAT THIS SPORT IS ALL ABOUT, LEARNING..HELPING..THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX..AND HAVING FUN!! BSB..NO BAD FEELINGS TOWARDS YOU OR ANYONE WHO RACES ANYWHERE.. BUT TO EVERYONE WHO GETS THIS FAR DOWN MY POST..
IF ANYONE MAKES A NEGEATIVE COMMENT/POST ABOUT JOHN OR ANY OF THE FAMILY AT THE
NPWDRL, YOU'LL PROBABLY BE RESPONDED TO IN A BAD WAY, AND NONE OF US WANT THAT. TAKE CARE
ALL,
D.G.

I THINK MY POST WAS MISINTERPRETED. I DID NOT CALL OUT BSB, I JUST WANTED HIM TO KNOW I WASN'T CALLING HIM OUT (BY MENTIONING HIS NAME) BUT IF ANYONE TOOK OFFENSE TO THE POST AS A PERSONAL ATTACK, I APOLOGIZE. BUT I STAND BEHIND MY STATEMENT, I ALREADY UNDERSTOOD NOBODY WAS CALLING OUT JOHN..I WAS JUST SAYING
ok
.

Here's a quick take from a rookie at the bottom of the amateur SS class... You guys have done an awesome job with your pure stock rules. The current system really allows guys like me with minimal investment (no shop full of tools, little experience, and zero R&D time) to produce mildly decent results. Your forums are a great resource for us newcomers. HUGE thanks to you guys that post!!! Put me down for NOT allowing additional material to be added to the wheels in the SS division. Just my two lousy cents…

Hey Radio...as a fairly new guy myself, I can tell you that this is the greatest place and the greatest group of guys you could possibly know. With that said I would like to invite you to get on the forum and ask questions and make some of your own comments too. That is what brings life to the forum and helps everyone out. Glad you are here and welcome to a VERY addictive hobby to include the forum HAHA!

Radioactive, Egghead and Buckster are going to be some new up and coming studs. I am seeing a lot of new talent surfacing around here. The reason the NPWDRL continues to grow is that the new guys actually get REAL information from the racers here. Nobody is posting anything here that is intentionally slowing people down. I have seen posts like that happening over the last year or two and it really makes people mad when they find the truth especially after the bogus info ruins expensive products.

I also strongly urge the new guys to participate and feel free to share your ideas. It is one of you that will take us to the next level.

SHARING IDEAS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, HELPING THE NEW GUYS OUT. DRAWING NEW RACERS IN. BUT BE READY TO GET OUTDONE BY YOUR OWN SUGGESTIONS AND INFO.
beatup
ALBEIT, IT IS FUN TO SEE SOMEONE TAKE YOUR ADVICE AND DO WELL!!

Well that last statement I made about killing my cars, it proved to be true. Trying a few things with the elim. and unlimited wheels I managed to out of round both sets. They sounded like a motor boat going down the track. One day when I get brave enough I will ask my wife for a lathe, yep I'm that whoped! Hopefully some new shoes for both will get me ready for the Man of the mountain.

Well last night I spent about 3 hr's on one set of wheels!! Man do I wish I had a lathe. I have been happy for the most part with the ways my cars have been performing but am wanting a class win! I remember growing up parents and coach's telling me if you want to win you got to put in the time. I hope that is the same with PWD racing. The funny thing is at times in this hobby it seems like the less time I spend on the car the faster it goes. If that's the case I just killed my car!!
wah

After reading thru these posts this morning I can't believe I missed cam's post. First let me say to cam. I hope you don't think I was talking about you as I KNOW that you would never cheat or try to bend the rules. I respect you as much as anyone in this sport! I guess I assumed everyone knew what and who I was talking about. Sorry if you thought that Dennis. I should know by now I guess to just keep my big mouth shut.
