My boy has been in scouts for 3 years and has come up short every year (pretty steep competition in our pack) but today was his day. Edging second place by .001 ( last years winner which ended up taking 25th in New York and he used the same car) It couldn’t have been any closer.

His little brother took top honors in the open class.

Nicely done! Your pack doesn’t require you to build a new car every year? Most rules require a new build every year.
My two boys placed 20th and 21st in ny last year, stiff competition! Maybe we’ll meet up at the PWDWC Time suare in June! Congrats again

Yes they do require a new build. They’re pretty slack on the rules. I would have said something if he lost again this year.

Did you machine those wheels? I only ask because they look super thin on the inside or is it just the pic?
Some of Johns wheels. Can’t remember exactly which ones. I bought them last year. I prepped a little extra with his black ice polish kit too.

Congrats on your son's win! Our rules require to have the car build after the last season, in theory the NYC race is after last season. However we just build a new car anyway! Since my son build most of the car this year I choose to be a bit less aggressive with the size of the weight pockets, resulting in 10 cubes instead of 12 cubes behind the rear axle, but somehow we still managed to get a bit more speed than last years NYC car which still baffles me. Maybe my son's axle hole drilling skills improved?

Dennis,

Congratulations to both you and the boys! This should be a great life lesson for them. Continuing to work hard and all of you doing of your best, ended up paying dividends! Their smiles are priceless. Their memories will last a lifetime.

If you keep reading and following along, you will be surprised at how much MORE you can/will learn. All of that can be applied to next years builds. And yes, they will be faster!

Again ...Congratulations!
