I am hoping to have a couple of BASX cars ready for the June race. I have always used lead for weight and it was centered in the car, not offset to the DFW side. I have read a ton of info on weighting a car with tungsten, but I was just wondering if there is a good starting point for weight placement using tungsten.

This is the placement I was thinking of starting with. I can use 21 cubes and a bit of puddy to make weight. Any thoughts about doing my weight this way?

You can also eliminate some of the interior weights and use a half ounce rectangular slab with tape and move it around on the bottom of the car to make quick changes on weight placement to see if gross changes get you quickly into a faster run. Then you could remove the slab on the underside and re-insert weights on the inside to mimic where the slab was on the bottom. I did this with one of my eliminator cars and it worked very well to help me get into a good cg quickly.

Hey Tony! Where are you getting half once rectangular tungsten weights? I have been looking for a 1/2" wide, 1-1/2" long, 1/4" thick weights. Hope to see you again at Zeebzob's next test and tune session!

I think he's talking about the thin plates that you can find at DD4H site. The dimensions you are talking about, Steve, would weigh 2 ounces.

I got some tungsten plates at the local Hobby Town, I think the package has a variety of weights in it of all weights, thicknesses and sizes. It was a PWD type of packaging but can't remember who's it was. Like Zeebzob said - I think that John has them as well.

Unfortunately I'll be out of town at the next session :-(
I would love to have been able to be there to see everyone again. Bummer...
