I feel like a cave man... I was all happy about mine. Have a particle board shelving flat that is 4' x 2' with blue painters tape down the middle. Lay a ruler along the end at the tape and then with the car on the end closest to me I just lift the edge. Lol. I thought it was so custom and was so proud of my masterpiece. 
Once I had them drifting 4" I was happy.
Ditto Think' Bout Racin's comment... need to see Bulldog's masterpiece. I won't be building anything too elaborate, can't afford that yet but I certainly want to step up from my Flintstones set up.
