Tuning question.

So I put together what I think is a decent tuning table. I printed out a table graphic, put it in a 3x5 foot frame under plexi. I am trying to tune my sons car and it will end up with a 4" steer over 4' but it is not a constant arc. It starts out with a gentle curve then straightens out for about 3-4 inches then resumes it's arc. The rear wheel are at a 3 degree cant and the 4th wheel is raised just a hair with a 4 3/8 wheel base. Any thoughts or opinions would be most appreciated.

*UPDATE* I pulled the non-steering and re-tested the car. It was way off. Re-tuned it with only 3 wheels on. Filled in 4th axle hole re-drilled it higher and re-tested it again. Now I think I'm good to go. Guess I was a touch premature with my post. But, fear not I'm sure I'll be back with more rookie questions.

No worries my friend. I’m not a rookie and I still ask lots of questions. Some good ones and some dumb ones! It’s all good! Best of luck to you!!

I’ve heard of this method. Never works for me. If I have a problem car, I place it under my pillow and sleep on it. In the morning, it still has the same problem! Am I doing something wrong?

Nope... It has the same problem, so you are doing nothing wrong... When I get mine off the floor in the morning (because it didn't last all night under my pillow) mine has all kinds of new things going on with it.

I do the same thing, but I always make sure to orientate the car the same direction as I am facing. Then when I roll over I make sure to rotate the car.

By doing this, it allows me to visualize the car from behind as it is going down the track. This in turn helps me to troubleshoot what the problem might be.

So just be sure to properly orientate the car correctly for best results! :p :D

True story. Once I placed a Pinewood Derby Car under my pillow to sleep on. The next morning, it was gone. In it's place was a to-do list of chores around the house. My wife swears it was the Pinewood Derby Fairy, the Tooth Fairy's distant cousin. But I'm suspicious.

Thanks Mr. Racin! I'll try orienting my car correctly next time. Another tip, make sure the glue on your axles has dried before placing under your pillow. Just trust me.

Usually I have a troubled car on my hands because I was working on it at 1:37 am and was too tired to keep my mind right.

Don't worry... after 2 or 3 years, you will start to get a couple hours of straight sleep.:D:D
