Guys,

I am in need of building a glass topped tuning table. I have found a number of pictures of several tables that are out there. I have gotten some ideas.

I am hoping that those of you that have one already would consider sharing some pictures and ideas. It would be nice to gather these thoughts and pictures in a single location for easy reference.

I am also hoping that maybe this could be a "pinned topic" for all of those that need to build one in the future. Or in case someone wants to re-build theirs. Who knows, we could all learn something from each other and all end up with a table that stores easily, is durable, works very well and looks like a pro built it. At least some of you could have a Pro-built looking table . ;)

This looks so cool, and I think your bump stop at the end is genius!!! Wish I thought of it. Is there foam on the underside of the stop?
I just realized the picture I posted was an older picture- before I added my foam. After this picture was taken I added some 2" foam that was initially created to go around window AC units

Ok this makes more sense to me now... I thought the foam was just hard to see in the picture on the underside of the stop

Our current table is a piece of melamine shelving. It has blue painters tape across the bottom marked out like a ruler. It does have a piece of polished aluminum adhered to the start area to ensure consistent releases.

Our current one might make a fair table for some Scout dads that are just getting started? However it is better than the 7' piece of 3/4" plywood that had painters tape down the middle and across the bottom. I will say that when we set up that first plywood tune board a little over a year ago, I thought we had discovered an epiphany. :p

TBR, although I still think of myself as an amateur and only started building these little cars about a year ago, I think the bounce is more important than the steer. You can always adjust the steer but if you don't have a good bounce your car is probably slow. With all due respect, I'd suggest you ditch the tape and buy a piece of plexiglass.

Yep, I know that we need to upgrade the table. That is one of the driving factors why I started this thread. I am looking for as many good ideas as I can find before I invest the time/effort into building one. I need to stop by the local glass shop and see if I can procure a cheap piece of leftover/blem glass. I do have a piece of foam at the end, but I have not been measuring the "bounce".

That got me thinking ...are most using plate glass or tempered glass? It probably makes no difference, but I thought I would ask.

I don't think it matters, my board and the APR board measure differently. Buy a piece of cheap plexiglass and just compare .
