In the race for the 16th spot you can race as many as you want. However only the winning car advances into the final rounds. If the winner of the 16th spot races 5 cars in the qualifying race only his fastest car advances.

IMHO, in the preliminary event for the 16th spot, any BASX car that's average speed is less than 2.98XX should move up to the following Prelim race. That would allow late comers to vie for the finals. There are probably only 4 or 5 builders that would otherwise make it, who didn't race in Aug or Sep. OR if you want to narrow it down so only the best get into the top 15 prelims, make the cutoff time 2.985X.

QT, you are one of the best examples of this problem in the BSAX class. You only ran one race of the 3, and even though you made the finals in one single event, you did not qualify in the top 15. So in the preliminary event to find the 16th entrant, the rest of us are left sucking sand (even a couple of others that had a couple of excellent times in only one or two preliminary events). I.e. If the preliminary event to find a single 16th position happens to include one of the 5 best racers in the league, that's a heavy discouragement to other good racers, but not of the same capability of a top 5 racer. That would be like DD4H entering a car to vie for the 16th position.

So John, next time you do this, pick a reasonable time, and any one in the preliminary event that are better than that established time, get to go on. Maybe even like we did at one other year, let better times bump the slower ones, like at Indy time trials.

OK, I have said my piece, let the show go on.
