we might as well have one SS class

Well, when I started about a year ago, I was in the AM class. Now at that time if you ran a 2.98 or better (with the old gate system) you automatically moved into the pro's the next month. So I spent a total of 1month in the AM class. Now there is no threshold, so it is confusing.

As was when I started. So now the AM class has a lot of "PROs" -old gate 2.98 and 2.97 racers, and that's ok.

I think having several classes makes it more fun for everyone, Whether its pro-am-nov or AA, A, B. I believe there was talk in last winters discussion of adding a nov class as per the intent of being "your own build". But I don't believe it ever made it to the rules.

As John posted recently, a lot of us , maybe myself included need to put the scout mentality aside and have fun. I don't believe there are many secrets left ODD, If you have a question, ask sometimes a PM is better. The guys at the top learned from the guys who came before them then built on from there.

Regardless of the structure, there still needs to be a gentleman's agreement to adhere to. No, I'm not calling anyone out.

So lets race and have some fun!

I think the issue/problem with saying the Novice was a "your own build" class was that it's very difficult to govern that rule. Say I buy a car, paint it, call it something else. How will you know it's a pro built car vs. my own. I think it's pretty obvious if you post a 3.06 time then next month post a 2.98X time, but that still is a judgment call on it being a purchased car or your own. Whatever the change or new rule is, it'll be just that and I'll support and adhere to whatever that is. If it's expected for people to congratulate cars that win, built or purchased, then I'm all for that. But I will not support or congratulate Pro built cars in a class designed for new builders. It's like saying we should congratulate Mike Trout if he were to play for your local high school team for hitting a HR every game. Or Peyton Manning for throwing 10 touchdowns every game for a high school team, for those that are not baseball fans. That's just something I dont support and wont.

"I agree, no purchased cars in Novice. Not sure you can keep them from Am.

I also don't think you can keep people from running in the pro class if that is what they choose. I will say that once you go pro you are there for good.

Whatever you class you start in is what you will race the 4 month series in." DD4H quote.

Let me throw this out there. The NPWDRL is a lot like NASCAR. It is where the best come to give it their shot of being the best in the nation. And like NASCAR there are different levels or divisions depending on your skill set. But keep in mind that even if you are racing in the Novice class if you are racing in the NPWDRL you are a PRO with a PRO car. It doesn’t matter if you made it, stole it or bought it, when it hits the NPWDRL track it becomes a PRO built car. I do understand that there are different levels of a PRO and there should be. You wouldn’t run a Sprint Cup car in the Nationwide or Craftsman Truck series and you shouldn’t run a PRO class car in the Novice class. So what keeps someone from buying one of Jimmy Johnsons Sprint Cup cars and running it in the Nationwide series? The cars have a different set of rules. What keeps someone from buying one of QT’s cars and running it in the novice class? Nothing! So maybe we could change the rules of the cars to keep those cars out? We could run heavier wheels or a lighter car or something like that? It would still allow newer racers to get comfortable with their building skills and get their processes down without getting too discouraged. Just a thought.
hmmm

Hit that nail one more time Drop... Your on target with this... Being where you are at is about building your car, adjusting it, Learning to prep it, and Tune it some more... It takes more the a hand full of races for some of us...

You need to not race to place... but race to improve... Improve your builds, improve your prep, improve your times and guess what walla you start to move up...

Gents I didn't stop racing after one race because I didnt win.. I had real life things to take care of... I got a part time job on saturdays when needed it will pay my PWD here and there... So beware gents once MID AM is done I have a car already to put the axles back in all I need is the lubricants and better wheels... BBY will return with the same stock wheels until I can go light... But she will run, wiggle and cross that line.... I am going to fire up some track time when I can... I have no complaints about racing a TANK against the guys here... I found out what I needed to do and slowly I am getting there... Lets not get to crazy and try to change the race let's change our thought process and how we ran and how can we improve...

Guys there are several threads Kinser put out... One had a Picnic table full of products Thousands of $$$ He spent to get to where he is at... John has spent tons of cash to be where he is and the list goes on... You have so much here to gain... Read what is here, meet guys and chat... Don't ask for their process as John has it laid out for you... Develope it ... FIND that Honey Hole called the SWEET SPOT and start to gain Speed... Drill straight, align that car right...

MOFAST using you for a minute Bro-- He had a car last race with an issue.... He got it back redid the area and guess what He placed 5th... Damb Good come back MOFAST... Guess what he is going to be making a run in the races coming to move up...

Sondo Story - I think it was Sondo... LOL getting old memory going..

Now that is the video that needs to be posted here.... Sondo bought all the right stuff and ran it and missed SUB3... John took the car and prepped it and it turned out to do what it needed to do Hit SUB3... SO he had all the right stuff... Just something didn't click into place yet.. John in a matter of minutes ran it and had it going in the direction Sondo had tried and just couldn't get there... He was not mad at the class he was in .. I think more mad at himself..

Papa v. It's only my second race here. I improved on it to. Mo fast is doing great. I want to b like him and do better every time. He is great for this league. I bet one thing here some might like me, some may love me ,but I am here to stay. I like the novice class because it makes it easier on a guy to try the wadding pool. Just a reminder here not everybody here has the talent to b in the top 10 percent. I am one of those guys but it does not bother me on bit!! It's just me racing me right now

Speed Bump -

You da Man ... You will be here for the long haul .. You mix it up well and will do great here.. I wish I had half the talent allot of you have.. I'm a very minimum average basic builder... Glad you found us here... I like a wadding pool myself ....
