During the application of RR I seem to be scratching the wheel bores with the pipe cleaner. I thought I was being careful but apparently not. Anyone use anything other than pipe cleaners or any advice to prevent this?

Dd4h sells a ,"no scratch " applicator which works well

I've wondered if there's any way possible to 'cap' the wire tip of a pipe cleaner before insertion. Maybe dipping it into wax or something?

Try the smallest shrink tube available, at least smaller than the will bore.

Some people use the nylon retainers from ther unlimited cars.

what about after it's on the pipe cleaner? Anyone have bad luck like me and scratch the wheel while the pipe cleaner wobbles in the bore. It take good technique for sure!

I use shrink tubing on the ends of my pipe cleaners like previously stated here.
Work great.

agree 100%, I use the 3/64th now and my wheels have never been better.

Little dab of hot glue will work in a pinch. I used a little tube of masking tape before. Once in the bore I really haven't had scratching issues but I also only turn it by hand.

You can get it at home depot or electronic parts store.
McMaster-Carr,MSC, and Grainger catalogs should already in your workshop.

Can someone forward me the shrink tubing they use? And where you got it from. I appreciate it.

Enter 151596 in the search box on Home Depot's website. I'd post a direct link but this silly Android tablet is being disagreeable tonight.

Radio shack sold 1/16" shrink tube,I cut a small piece and it slides over the wires and you can reuse it over again ( I do not shrink it its small enough )amazon sells 10 feet for about 5-6 bucks also

Thanks for this tip. I don't have any heat shrink tubing on hand, but I do have a glue gun...
