Who is Ready for the Mid America Pinewood Derby 2017 - updated

Hey, I just have a quick question. Does anybody have any way to contact the officials at the race? On one of our heats our scout car was replaced with another car that ran a tenth of a second slower (3.05 vs 2.95). I'm freaking out! Thanks![/QUOT

Just send you Greg's contact info via PM (conversation)

My son took 3rd place in the open scout graphite tiger division. He was a little upset at the beginning. However, cooled over when I told him how much better the competition was compared to council.

hmmmm, if its still going on now as a live feed.... I am having trouble finding the link on MA's site. Couldn't watch prior. Our Pack's Blue & Gold Banquet was today. Just got home.
edit: just dawned on me it is probably over. Noticed the full 10 hour vids are there on the live vid page.

They are doing qualified scouts graphite finals right now.

Thx. Just can't find the live feed link. Course my brain is tired. Blue & Gold was 4 hours. ;)

my sons car took 4th in wolf division and most patriotic. After the fiasco at districts and having to rebuild his car, he was ecstatic over getting 4th with all that stiff competition. He can't wait to start the build for next year already. Lol

Congratulations. What did the car look like?

Where can you look up the results?
Don't think you can yet. They have links on the site but they were having trouble with him all day and I tried them a little while ago without success

Congrats to everyone. My daughter's car qualified 10th in the Youth Open class, and ended up 12th. For whatever reason, her car slowed slightly in the final and the two that qualified behind us sped up slightly.

I am fairly happy for as quickly as we threw the car together with no chance to test it. I feel like we left a good bit of speed on the table by not running it somewhere first, but we just simply did not have time.

I have access to our Pack Track, which is a 40 foot aluminum track. But I don't really have anywhere to set up inside the house. To use it, I would have to set it up in my garage and have it run outside the door a little bit. And we were on the receiving end of what was essentially a tropical storm last Sunday and Monday, so that wasn't going to happen. So I set it it 4 inches over 4 feet and sent it in.

2.96 average on graphite. The fastest car went 2.919 on its quickest run.
We'll have to get a good bit better to hang with that

Hi Rick, That was awesome. The Twelve is Everywhere!!!! I am going to name one of my cars that name. Let me know if you are going to race in the league and when. I will make sure I have the "HWKZRUL" car in the line up to race against your Patriots car.

I am glad you and you family made it safely to Omaha. Have fun at the races and best of luck to you and you son.
Well we didn't do too well in the races but all of the people we met and spoke with at Mid America were awesome to us. Everyone was Great !!! Greg Dawes and his wife especially, made us feel like family.
You'd better save that hwkzrul car for our bet at next year's race...lol

Hi Rick,

Well at least you had a chance to go to MA. I hope you grandson had a good time. I am sure he will do better next year,

Will make sure I have a HWKZRUL car ready for next year. I am trying to watch my kids car but I don't think they are showing the sibling races on the live feed. Did you see the Moana car or Seahawks car.

They raced the kids cars on the adult track. I saw Moana and the Seahawks. Pretty sure that HWKRLZ Iowa license plate was for the Hawkeyes.

That's still a great license plate. I found the live feed. Looks like the boys did fairly well. They made it to the final 12. Not sure where the ended up in the finals. Where is the sibling video feed?
