Hi Rick,

I am glad you and your grandson made it home safely. Your grandson sure looks like he was having a great time. Thanks for sharing the picture. It is good to put a face to a name and nice to see you grandson as well.

Gregg does a great job with MA. I hope to get a chance to meet him someday.

I found out that my Bear, Hawks car, came in 4th. My Tiger came in 11th. This was a nice surprise to do so well. I don't

Hey Joe, that's awesome you guys did well at the races!. My grandson did finish 11th in the open Scout graphite, Bear's division. His friend finished 9th in the same division. My wife noticed that the grandson's car had a wiggle to it...I'm going to have to build a better test track because I didn't see a wiggle on our current test track.

Just curious how long it takes to receive the cars etc back? NOT rushing or pushing in any way , my son just asked and I didn't have an answer for him. I gave him the old "not sure, maybe a week or two" :D

We watched most of the day. I must say, very well organized and great job to everyone that was a part of putting it all together and running it.

Hi Rick, Wow! 11th is not bad at all. That is really good for his first time. You should ask if there are any racers in your area that have a best track. I am sure they would let you test on their track if it is up and running.

I doubt that anyone has a best track and I would hate to run out to someone else's house to test a car every time we make one. Some of our packs in the area have aluminum tracks (not sure if they are best tracks). Our Council ran our district race on a plastic track with a blanket at the end to stop the cars and a timer that only reports 1st and 2nd place, it was double elimination. Our area Pinewood Derbies are like the Stone Age compared to what I've seen at Mid America and on this forum. It's like we just discovered the wheel while other areas are driving sports cars already. I was thinking about offering a free class to our scouts and their parents next year before the derby season just to pull our area out of the Stone Age and increase the level of competition. I'm no expert but I think I could help our scouts become more competitive. I've heard people talking about their district races and moving on to council races. We don't have anything outside of our district races here in Pennsylvania.

This year was my boys first Mid America. They took 1st and 5th in Tiger graphite and a 4th in the finals. They took 1st and 2nd in Tiger oil with 7th and 9th in the finals. We had a district race the following weekend so not having the time to switch out wheels (lightened on the inside not allowed) so we ran the 2.5 gram wheels rather than the Mid America wheels in the oil division. We had a great time watching the live feed and they were certainly excited to get 7 trophies! My question is how much time did we leave on the table going with the heavier wheels?

My packaging label hasn't been scanned for return. Should I be worried?
Did you ever get it?
I have an email in to Greg about getting my daughter's trophy. Didn't get it in the mail...the box I sent wasn't big enough for one anyway, but I certainly wouldn't mind sending some $$ to get it here.

Mr Slick from PWDRacing took our cars to Omaha for us and brought back the cars, trophies, and swag so I don't know how shipping is handled.

Still waiting to hear from Greg. I emailed him a week ago and messaged the Mid Am account through Facebook before that, and posted a question about it on the Mid Am FB page back on the 7th.

Maybe he was burned out and taking a break from PWD for a bit.
