Races were on what I can only call an older wooden track. It was pretty bumpy. Good thing it ended up being a little heavy on the DFW. Even so, the car came off track a few times, but was so far ahead it didn’t really matter.
I was hoping for some sort of timer to really gauge where it was, but that will have to wait until regionals.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone on this board that helped and took the time to answer questions.

I’ll post an update on the creeper car after our council race in April.

That was a crazy big lead!

That was the first round race. We ended up winning the finals by about a car and a half.

Well as promised, here is an update. Today was our Region council race. We did well and finished 2nd overall. Had a small issue at check in. We were told our carry wheel was to high. I said the rules stated 1/16" which we were with in. He was using a flat credit card as a gauge, which I questioned him on. I said the rules state 1/16" and that card is easily half of that. Wouldn't budge. Ok, fine. Everyone has to pass the same tech, so I pull the carry wheel, wrap my pliers in paper towel and bend the axle. Insert it back in and "tune" it as close as I could.

We make it through the first 3 rounds pretty easily. 4th round was starting the heat up. The other car was within 1/2 a car of us, but we took all 3 heats. We were in the finals!

This is where I was nervous. Now its us and the winners of Saturdays AM and PM brackets. And the one car looked fast. You know the one. The one that looks out of place for a scout race. Super thin, wheels canted right, nice paint, super clean. Well built car for sure. It's actually what I aspire to build, props to them.

My fear was confirmed after the first drop. He handed the Creeper Car its first loss. Beat us by about 1 car length! Yikes! We finished second, barely. 3rd was so close I couldnt tell if it were not for the scoring lights.

The next two races were pretty much the same thing. Finished in second out of about 300 1st graders, so we will take that for our first foray in to PWD. Learned a lot from this build and forum and already have a list of improvements for next time. Gotta make up a car length and I think I know how now.

We are the green car in the middle lane here.
