I'm glad to hear that the kids recovered from the incident, CWT, that's great news. You hit the nail on the head with your explanation to the boys. Well done indeed!

I totally agree with you/him on equal rules across the council - so much that I even pushed it 2 years back after our first fiasco w/Mr. Official. While everyone thought that was a great idea, one person was opposed. Guess who? Yeah, shocking I know. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif I'd even be happy to help with creating consistent rules now, (yes, leveraging already great write-ups like Northern Star, Street Stock, etc.) but I know that comes at the cost of having to tolerate him, all while my son crosses over to Boy Scouts tomorrow. If at all possible, the council, all districts and all packs need a consistent set of rules - no doubt.

At the risk of sounding old... /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif I always tell the parents that the real value of the pinewood derby is the time spent with a family member, friend, aunt/uncle/grandparent/etc making the car. Strategizing over design, paint, 'what will make it faster' etc. That's quality time that many boys don't get enough of these days. That said, I totally get it though - they are young boys and they want that shiny trophy and nothing feels better than watching your car do well or win and the associated excitement.

It funny you saw his Facebook post as well. As soon as we got home, I loaded his page to watch for his comments. You'll be surprised to hear I'm not Facebook friends with him, but if I was, I'd be tempted to reply with the butt hurt image. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
