But trying to beat the wrap with all the fee based United States Postal "SERVICE" convenient shipping boxing materials, services etc. To any experienced sender that has figured the path less traveled thru the maze on the USPS Matrix can someone help a Brother out ? Gotta get past that flat rate attached fee by shipping in Kraft type boxes and ship by weight....usually ounces. There's gotta be a better way fellers.

My last ship to Utah from MI was USPS prepaid click & ship labels using USPS account. Though I want to see if a specific size flat rate is a better option if I am only shipping 1 or 2 cars a month.

LJO yes I do have an account but exploring other options other than the norm. USPS Clip N ship to a point asks what service to use ie. Priority Mail of Prority Express then choose box size with a if it fits it ships flat rate fee attached which is great if you're shipping heavy stuff. My single car, Legends Box and the outside foam line box usually comes in around 21/22 ounces. According to a side note on the USPS site it says to use clip n ship you must use the USPS labled packaging materials. Which isn't correct because my last send was in a Kraft box using Clip N Ship. So much for the rules.

Then print a return Clip N Ship Lable for the trip back home. Conivence of if it fit it ships flat rate" is a service that comes at a cost.....make sense ?
 
I had a shipping box issue last minute so I actually did one of the smaller flat rate hard envelopes that one legend carrier will fit in. I was only shipping one car. The worker at the USPS helped me with this. Another folded and prestamped flat rate envelope folded & put inside with the car box. Just over $7.00 one way MI to UT. Not sure how much Joel will care for that option though.

Same thing, one car in my 2 car shipping priority box (same as flat rate medium box) and the ship from MI to UT doubled to over $15.00. Big box for just one car but with bubble wrap it was much safer.

I am still trying to figure out what is best. Obviously the envelope does NOTHING to protect the box so that is not preferred. But in a pinch, if all else fails it will work for a single car ship method.

I will probably go with a medium flat rate which will fit 2 car boxes. I will only race 1 or 2 classes when I do race anyways for now. Price will be the same either way and car boxes will be a bit safer.

Want to start sending my BASX here to race some time soon too.
 
I use PayPal to ship cars out, and USPS for return. PayPal gives you a bit of a discount, but unfortunately there's no option for return labels.

Well well, fellers here it is, at least for me. My car packed in a padded box in a box weighs about 21 oz. Lets just 22 to be safe. According to the USPS Postage Calculator

A 13 oz parcel shipped first class in a craft box weighing 13 oz costs $3.13 in stamps and 23 cents for each additional oz. In my single car sending the extra 9 0z would result in an additional $2.07 worth of stamps. $3.13 plus $2.07 = $5.20 for a send. Then do your clip n ship return in the box to get er home and you've beaten the flat rate if it fits it ships Matrix. So what about the time needed to get it to the venue using First Class not Priority? Good question !!

The United States Postal Service (USPS) reports that as of January 2018, it takes an average of one to three days for First-Class Mail to arrive at its destination. Priority Mail likewise takes one to three days. USPS only includes the time a package stays in transit in their estimations.

Anyone interested in going to Vegas ?

Another thing to keep in mind, is you get $50.00 insurance with priority mail (included with the price).

USPS ain't no discount program & it's like the doctors office, It's a good thing but I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling when I walk in the place.
Good Luck to anybody shipping anything at any price.
Most of us have missed races or had stuff damaged, "that's part of the excitement,,, sure it is"..

by any chance could you shoot me that link too? So I can only find anything about shipping by the help/search function but still unable to see where I can "create" a shipping purchase for a label. The help instructions start after the point of having already created something that opens up the "Ready to ship" link.
This one has me stumped.

SEND with stamps by weight in a Kraft box. Print clip n ship to put in box for the trip back to the crib.
