2015 Race #1 Results

so top 13 in ss are qualified for pro, rest are am?

Yeah the rule posted in December was:

"The Street Stock pinewood derby class will be made up of 2 internal classes: Pro and Amateur. You will be placed into a classification after your first race of the series and will race that classification for the remainder of the 3 month series. Any builder that runs a 2.973 or faster will be placed in the PRO ranks with the remainder being placed in the AM class. If you miss the first race then you will automatically run with the AM class for your first race and if you make the qualifying PRO time then you will be placed in the PRO class. The classification will reset with every series. All builders must earn their PRO classification every series."

As you indicated, the top 13 cars had average times under the 2.973 cutoff to go into the PRO division.
But of those 13 cars, there are 9 builders represented (4 builders had 2 cars that beat the cutoff). By my count that leaves 13 others to Amateur division.

However, interesting to note that two guys just missed the 2.973 (Corvid 2.9734 and Kinser 2.9739). I assume they were close enough, and both ran PRO last year.

That would make 11 PRO and 11 AM coming out of this first event of 2015

Great job, to all that participated! There was some insanely tight racing! There were many that missed this first race, but the racing was super competitive! To those that weren't able to make this race I hope you can find some time and get a few in fo the next race.
Huge congrats to the winners, the new personal best, and the first timers! WK still on top of his game and a force to be recond with. Hogans WOW, I believe top 5 finishes in all the classes you raced and a class win! Kinser feeling his Mojo with a couple wins. This is a great time to be racing! A top 10 finish is quite a accomplishment. Congrats to Bulldog first race and sub 3, way to go.

I forgot the most important thanks. THANK YOU John for providing us a first class facility for racing, and anything pinewood derby! If you get the chance drop in its pretty awesome even in its infant stage. I can't what to see it in a few years from now.

Congrats to the winners and racers. I had a great blast watching the event, I had my 3 boys and wife around the computer watching my first car race, as I saw the cars on deck with my name in the same heat as Quicktime derby I reverted back to my wrestling days where I used to get butter fly's when I was nervous before a match, it was rather funny looking back. I had a huge smile on my face and my family was all cheering. We could never break 3.00 at our own track here so to see the car average 2.9899 was far better than I thought I may do, I was quite nervous of embarrassing myself. I've been holding out of the races for a year now because of that reason so my advice to others that my be in that boat is send in a car. It was great. I thank John and all the crew for the way you guys handle the cars. I saw the staging process and I thank you for the care you putt into handling my car. Quicktime, thank you for your encouragement. When my 10 year old son saw how excited I was to see the time his question was , Dad, why are you happy, you lost the race, you came in 4th in the heat." I told him that the guys I was racing are great racers and we are learning from them. I explained that I was setting personal goals. I will show him the comment where Quick Time Derby said good job, this will be a great teaching moment for my sons, thank you guys for your class and the forum here to learn and have a common ground.

Thanks all and congratulations to all the winners and new racers and everyone who attended live and remote!

We all are very lucky to have a great forum and now state of the art shop to race at! It will only continue to grow and get better as time goes on!

Hope to see more at the next race in Feb!

Maybe ill figure out that darn SP by then LOL!

Looking at the BASX prelims results and the document linked is showing the BASX finals instead of the prelim standings.

Yeah -

I posted a link that works to get to the BASX prelims in this thread (post #2)

A late congratulations to all the winners - despite some holes in the turnout, nobody took home a cheap win, those cars were smokin' !!
clap

Got my cars back already, nice to see them again ! And no broken wheels !!!

Nice job! Thanks John! You're awesome.

Oh uhhh, I'm not racing Amateur. I'm sure the amateurs won't mind me not heading that class and the pros won't mind me racing with them at my speed. I don't know why I'm struggling so bad in that class, it's my conundrum.

Oh come on now. You have to earn your way to the pros this year
smile

Maybe add an amendment to say that if you qualify for Pro in any class you race pro for all classes. I would find it rather amusing if John holds to the new rule, forcing even the veterans to race their way into the pro division.

If you want to petition to race the pro group then please let me know. I agree there are a few that do classify as Am.

I want to send a huge thank you to Joel, Dennis and Kinser for helping me run the race. They were awesome as always. You have no idea how much I appreciate you. Thank you to all the great racers that support us. This is going to be a great series.

Congrats to the dominant racers also!!!! You guys rock! I have to get back to work, sorry for the quick posts!
