2015 RULE CHANGES!

There really is no need to change many rules as the classes were all very successful.

The only changes are:

Street Rod:
No convertibiles
No open wheeled cars

Street Stock and BASX will have Pro and AM classifications. The rule for which classification you will fall under is:

The Street Stock pinewood derby class will be made up of 2 internal classes: Pro and Amateur. You will be placed into a classification after your first race of the series and will race that classification for the remainder of the 3 month series. Any builder that runs a 2.973 or faster will be placed in the PRO ranks with the remainder being placed in the AM class. If you miss the first race then you will automatically run with the AM class for your first race and if you make the qualifying PRO time then you will be placed in the PRO class. The classification will reset with every series. All builders must earn their PRO classification every series.

The BASX pinewood derby class will be made up of 2 internal classes: Pro and Amateur. You will be placed into a classification after your first race of the series and will race that classification for the remainder of the 3 month series. Any builder that runs a 2.985 or faster will be placed in the PRO ranks with the remainder being placed in the AM class. If you miss the first race then you will automatically run with the AM class for your first race and if you make the qualifying PRO time then you will be placed in the PRO class. The classification will reset with every series. All builders must earn their PRO classification every series.

sick
What?? No convertibles?? Why? The only one I've seen run is the Mach 5. I'm in the final stages of a Lambo Diablo roadster build. One that I was hoping to sell off, no less.
wah

I can think of several things I'd put a cap on first...
pout

And there go my plans on building a Prowler...

You're worried about enough cars being submitted, so you are adding limits on the types of cars that can be submitted.

dazed

I'm sorry, John. I simply don't get this one. It sounds like making a rule for rule-making's sake.

/images/boards/smilies/sneaky.gif I secretly found out what you were building so I had to make it illegal!

The Street Rod class can quickly slide as people get more and more hooked on trying to win at all cost. Do you want to allow the lexan bodies again? The whole point to the class is to be able to race cars that look real. We are quickly going back to cars that look like fat street stocks. As far as your Lambo, Seal the top and it will be good to go.

A lot of people will quit the class if they think they have no chance to win without a certain body.

Everything sounds Great !!! Good question HMH on the times.
Maybe we all run together and they split us up for the finials.

I think it is a great idea to keep AM classes in Street Stock and BASX. This will encourage those people who want to race but don't want to run with the big dogs right away.
The novice class is what got me to jump in to the NPWDRL.

John was gracious enough to keep the AM class because I am a lifer in that category never to break 3 point OH...hahaha
lol

ThanX very much John!!!

John, as always you are spot on with making changes and always striving to improve the NPWDRL. Looks like another great season is about to start.
clap
clap

I have read almost every post on this forum. You guys are top notch. I have been purchasing from DD4H for two cub seasons now and because of the friendly people here I'me throwing some chips down and sending in a car to my first NPWDRL. Thank you John for this opportunity. You guys have created something special here.

Glade to have you join the racing. The NPWDRL is at the tip of the spear for pinewood derby racing combined with a great group of folks.

You are what you believe you are Chief. If you want to win, the first thing you have to do is believe it, then you work towards that end. This is true in every aspect of life and I wish I could master it myself.

Brother I appreciate your thoughts! But in this case, I see it differently. I am not building cars to just win. It is not about coming in first place. For me it is about being apart of this PWD community or extended family. Ya know once a year or so we have a family reunion and we race PWD cars, and we get together and talk about everything (just like family). I have a 4 year old boy that got a toy tool set (from Santa) with a tool box that he carries around to work on stuff like he sees me do. The best thing for me is hearing him come thundering down stairs with tool box in hand to work with me on PWD cars. He gets his little plastic hammer and starts "Bamming" away (his words) on a block that I gave him. On race day he sits and watched with me the live feed and we bet on which car is going to be first down the track. For me it is about being able to reach out and talk to anyone here on the forum about PWD or just life in general about things, ya know "Guitars" or painting cars or whatever. It is all about enjoying the hobby and an honest one at that. On another note, I sent in a car that took last place, and that car Won a bearing car... I call that a win, win! HAHA! Kinser you are great and I don't care what anyone else says or thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for being a friend!

YES YES YES!
It's cheaper and much easier to build, plus there are a thousand body choices.

If you allow LEXAN BODIES.. I will quit running SR.. I personally think there needs to be a year model LOCK on the SR class. 75 and below factory production built car.. That's what you call a SR not. 2006 Vette or Lambo, or Jag. Those are not SR.
