3lxA is an idea that got worked up but never completed.

While talking with The Eccentric one day, I asked if I could lateral him the derby car.

We decided on the name Derby Dog and he now has his work cut out for him because the car was far from finished when I sent it.

Please chime in with your thoughts Eccentric.

Man, pictures alone fail to do this car justice, every inch of this puppy is finely detailed! Probably the baddest derby car I've seen in person, it is lightweight yet strong and very smooth. Like I told Joe, I'm honored to take a crack at it and see what we can come up with. The plan of attack is to run the car in SS, take the DFW and shave the inner hub like how it's done in SP. Then secure that axle so it is solid, I have a couple ideas but need to do some more scrounging for small parts in the random parts bin.

I am the one that is honored.

The plan rocks!

Thanks dog

Hi Eric,

Yep. It is just the camera angle.

Luckily the Eccentric is a better builder than he is a photographer.

The wheels he turned look great. The removed step looks wet!

Thanks Joe,

I was thinking more about this design and wondered if the DFW axle head was slightly reshaped how this would affect performance. On a regular setup if the car body is a 90* and the DFW is angled the point where the two rub is different than how 3lxa is now. Slightly reshaping the axle head to control where the rubbing occurs just might be an improvement?

Hi NG,

My philosophy with these things is often:

If if flexes it is too thin,

If it does NOT flex then it is not thin enough.

This causes much back and forth.

I like to use different woods I have here.

There is no putty on this car.

These are veneers that had been previously dyed.

I would guess that there are 5 or 6 different species on this car.

Lol!!! Love the new avatar Eccentric!
You kill me fella!
Struggling to visualize what the axle head would look like that you are describing.
This might take a PM.
