Anyone can recommend a new air compressor? Ive been using one that I was designed for my airbrush paint set but noticed its spewing out something that looks like oil or other material....

Rather than try to troubleshoot and fix.....im looking to just get a new air compressor just to blow out stuff during the prep.

Thanks
WK

never thought about something like that but worth thinking about....

I was thinking about this

PORTER-CABLE C2002-WK Oil-Free UMC Pancake Compressor

Which I can also use for other things around the house or tires etc....

I have a Porter Cable pancake compressor like you posted. Came as a kit with a couple brad nailers. Nice compressor, portable. Never had a problem with it. It is kinda loud, though, especially in my basement shop. I left it on one day and the hose connection must have a tiny air leak. It kicked on about 1 am to refill and woke the whole house up! lol!

I have a California Air Tools also, but the 6.3 gallon unit. It is quiet. I can use it in the house without anyone complaining. They had advertised a special sale for them at Home Depot on the California Air Tools website this past spring so it made the price pretty competitive for me. I ordered mine from Home Depot online, it was not in store. Otherwise I would probably got a cheap one. In hindsight I really like the fact it is quiet and it seems to be pretty well made.

My prep last race was crap and it showed in every car I sent in. I believe it was from water vapor from my compressor that contaminated the prep on my wheels / axles. I have a cheap water trap I use for painting but it was not installed. I plan to add a nice desiccant filter setup for next months prep.

thanks all for the replies and suggestions!

Im on Amazon as I type this and checking it out to see if they have something on sale for the Holiday season!

The California Air Tools 6.3 Gallon unit (#6310) is $159 for special orders at Home Depot through May 3rd. Makes you think !!
hmmm

After talking with Gravity X, I purchased the same compressor as his and it is perfect. I'm very happy with it and the customer service is outstanding. I ordered mine from Home Depot and when it arrived one of the fitting was broken. I called customer service and the person was right on it and sent we what I needed. As far as noise it is real quiet.
