Well we've already seen a post on how to sand and glue the washers, but I still had a few that wouldn't stay on. So I added a mini dab of CA to the sides (left and right) of where the washer meets the wood and have had pretty good luck.

Good tip. Helps at least make a lip to hold the washer against the body vs relying only on the glue bonding the washer surface to the wood.

That's what I do with my kids toys that break. Not only glue the two surfaces that are joined but also dab a layer around the edge.

I just tried some self adhesive slick strips designed for drawers/wood fences for woodworking
applications. The adhesive is very tough, hard to pull off. I have not tried on a car but might be worth trying, not to have to fool with gluing.

How did they work?

It has worked great, I use a small trim router with a 1/2 wide straight bit to recess it flush with body.
Not sure if its faster than the washers, I just tried it on the dfw.
