To add to this, take out a pen and paper, go to the very first page of threads (#114 when I just looked) in General Discussion and start reading. Look for threads that have interesting titles, or lots of responses. Write down anything that seems like good info. Then, after you're done, go to Building Tips, Ask the Pros etc. and do the same thing. This might take a while, however, it will get you much further down the road rather than trying to figure things out on your own.
Also, reading through all of that material will give you a sense of the personalities at work here on the forum, and who might be a good source of info for you. Further, you'll find it entertaining seeing guys who are top tier now asking newb questions a few years ago and expressing frustration about how bad they're getting beat.
