Bent Axles

If you are not rail riding what benefits do you get from have bent axles on the rear wheels vs straight axles on the rear wheels.

I get having the bent axle for a steering wheel. If all steps are followed for removing burs and flash marks for the axles do you gain a significant amount of speed by bending or is more based on less friction?

Speaking of wheels is it better to remove the step on the outer hub with the pro wheel shaver or to leave the step and sand it smooth? It seems to me that having the step would reduce wobble on a wheel.

Bending axles is only good for the DFW for steering. The Pros will drill their car with a 3 degree cant in the rear axles that will look like..../ \......even if you don't run steer and rail ride having rears canted like this helps as wheels will ride outward to the axle heads plus with the cant angle keep the wheels further away from the center rail.

Also, with the wheels riding on their edges there is less friction with the track.
