I am running a Scout race for the first time with another dad. We put the 4 lane Best Track together and it is a mess. Cars were flying off left and right. We pointed the pins toward the finish line, changed panels around for the best fit and numbered everything. The track still does not mesh together well in certain areas. I have a sanding block and a multi-tool with triangle sanding block I can use to sand the rough spots on the track rails. What grit sand paper do you recommend and/or file? When finished, will clean the track with Pledge and paper towels. Any other suggestions are welcomed! Thanks.

Use the supplied drill bit to open up the holes of the receiving side of the pins. Then you can adjust the track up or down. You will then have to clamp the joint together. Also lightly file the down side of the track at the joints.

Thanks Quciktime ....... This is an old track - do you know what size bit to use? Since this track will sit on a floor, I was considering using vice grips to clamp the pieces together since they will fit between the floor and the bottom of the track. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Our track uses the office supply clips that you use to hold papers together. One thing that makes a huge difference is where you have your support brackets where your hill starts. If it is up too low or high on the track you'll have a lot of difficulties. It will make your joints hard to line up. I am sure other people have put up tracks many times more than me. It's just fresh in my mind since I did it Thursday. The directions that came with our track (a 4 lane), show how to put a 2 lane track together but you do the supports a little different for a 4 lane.

You didn't mention using a level. Is that something you did?

Will level the track on race day. The thing that is weird is the lateral side to side alignment of the lane rails. There is not one section where they all align. One is slightly to the right/left both vertically and or laterally which is causing the cars the cars to bump and in some cases fly off the track. One section came without any pegs at all

I will call Best Track on Monday. Will plan to drill the peg holes, alight as best we can, make alignment marks with a sharpie, clamp the track with vice grips and sand down the rough spots with aluminum sanding block and 320 600 1000 grit papers, then clean the track.
