Just to share the "goings on" in the B_Regal Racing skunkworks -

Batman (scout car)
* had to use original wheelbase
* made from all BSA parts
* lost count of wheels and axles destroyed in the process
* kept a low profile while still trying to incorporate some shape
* wheels are dirty in the pics
* yes, there is a positive cant on the DFW (even thought the pic does not appear to support it)
* almost as fast as some of my "adult" cars

And the "Jersey Jet" for adult novice mid-america):
* waiting on wheels and axles from John
* striping yet to be done
* black laquer (not sure it looks good in the pics though)
* speed unknown (but will be unveiled in Omaha)

Your fenders worry me. Are the fenders cut in so they don't hit the rail? Could be the picture but looks like they aren't cut in

They are 1/8" up from the bottom of the track and have a 3/16" notch. I've had the wheels in and tested for clearance. I always try not to make the fenders not to have a wider profile than the wheels.

In this particular, I fit the fenders with stock BSA wheels and then painted. The wheels I'm using are only 1.160 thick, so there is a bit more space between the wheels and fenders than I would like, but I was not about to wreck my 70's lacquer black finish to fix it.

They are made out of basswood, so they are a bit heavier than some that you all use, but I just had to cut them, sanding the "wheel well" with a space wheel with sandpaper glued on the tread. "Cheezy", but it works.
