I've used the black ice a handful of times now. The question I have is about the final wax step, which is #3 in my kit. I don't have the one with 4 steps. I follow the video to do the steps. When I apply the 3rd step it never seems to haze over. I blow the excess out with air and have let it sit for a long time a couple times before buffing it out but there always seems to be some that Is still wet. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong. It doesn't appear to still be wet inside the bore but there is always some that doesn't dry on the outside on the hub and some that gets on the spokes when I blow it out.

I wait only 10 to 20 minutes before buffing it out. You don't need to put it on thick. Just enough to coat the areas you need because the rest is going to get buffed off anyway. If it doesn't haze your work area is either too humid or you are putting it on too thick. I let it cure for a 3 days or so after buffing, apply it again, buff, then let it sit for at least 3 more. Clean out the dust and lint before installing.
I have the same problem it doesn't haze at all even drying for 2 days. I use just enough to cover the hole like in the video.
The other odd thing is after #2 its not wet looking at all it actually looks worse then it does before I started #1 like its straight out of a box. It does look better after I use dawn and car wash soap before I start #3

I noticed on some instructions for black ice system that alcohol is included in the process but it is not in the video on the website and that the car wash soap is used in a different spot in the sequence than the video. I think also it said to repeat step 3 and I don't think he said that in the video- just confused about the actual step by step process still I guess. Which instructions should I use? Alcohol? No alcohol? How long to wait after each step is best?
I was afraid of that haha! I figure i can experiment after my sons race is done just wanted to do the most proven way the first time until I get the hang of it.
Sounds good thanks TRE! That was my thought too so I went by the video plus the little extra note about the 4th polish.
I use alcohol then dish soap and water just to be on the safe side. Apply both with separate pipe cleaners. I don't use the liquid #4 polish these days. Haven't gotten it to work for me.
Brand new ...I got my three step kit about a month or so ago. Since that time the 4th step has been added. I have not tried it yet. That will be next week.
Thanks guys, I just finished doing my polish #3 last night, I did it twice because i heard guys saying it wasnt hazing over and they thought it was because they put it on too thick. So the first time I used a very small amount, it did haze over in like 10 minutes so I did it again and added a little more and it hazed over again nicely for me and now I am letting it set before I do polish #4. I'll let you know how it goes.
John can you speak to the effectiveness of the Sally Hanson nail protector that everyone was after - I am using it on a test block and having a hard time getting it to set up hard for me - I got the advice to use polish #1 on it after high grit sandpaper? Have you done this or had any success with this process? I may just end up using CA if I cant get it to harden up.

I use the Sally Hansonn on my Box Stock, thin layers & let sit awhile in between coats. Should be hard after sitting over night. Keep trying different things with the black ice system, you'll slowly find what works for you.
thanks ballistic I will look at it tonight after having left it a lone for a while. I guess I just assumed it would be hard after 30 min or so. I couldnt imagine any girl wanting to keep her hands drying for several hours haha. But I guess our intended purpose is just a tad different.
