We are using my scale for the check-in and I have a 5 oz calibration weight.

My scale weighs the 5 oz as 5.015 oz or 142.1g (instead of 141.7). Is there a way to re-set your scale to be more accurate?

My scale has a cal button but I have yet to use it. I can dig my book out to see if it may help. If you're unable to recal. you could zero the scale with the 5 oz. weight on it. Take the weight off, put car on. Zero would be 5 oz. a plus reading would be over, a minus reading would be light. If you would end up using this method you may need a notice at the table for someone who cannot figure it out.

I would recommend that you get the instructions for your particular scale. It should tell you what weight you need to use to recalibrate it. Remember that even calibration weights have a tolerance, your 5oz weight may not truly be 5.0000000 oz!

My small scale has a capacity of 100 grams and came with a 100 gram calibration weight. If I move the scale I need to recalibrate it every time or it will read the cal weight as about 99.980 grams.
