I am sure this is only information discussed in area 51 but I figure what the heck. I am building a thin .280 thick chassis and thinking of adding full length balsa fenders how much will a set a of fenders add in a 6 gram chassis? I guess what I am looking for what is a complete chassis weight with full fenders? Thanks guys and gals in advance for this secretive info if you care to share it.

I try to get my bodies 8 to 9 grams then fenders on top of that..some of these guys try to get bodies to 6 grams..i dont think you need to go that light

So if your body is 8-9 grams then you add 15 more grams for both fenders for a total body weight around 23-24 grams with out wheels and axles?

That blows my mind you can get it that light my first attempt I am at 31 grams no wheels or axles painted.

Is that much added weight worth the gain of the fenders? We go to great lengths to build a light body, just to more than double the weight with fenders? We are thinking of doing fenders this year, but still debating if adding them is worth the risk of doing them wrong, adding to much weight, or just changing the wheel base. So far we have done well with a long wheel base car, but looking for more speed.
