compressing block

What's ya'lls thoughts? I've got a block that's got horizontal grain with 1/16 growth rings. Thinking about soaking(with glue added to water) and compressing it before I cut it to shape. Would it help or hurt it?

Why would you want to do this? If its straight grain and dry...it won't be a problem.
Adding all the water with glue will increase weight and take a while to dry back out.
Probably cause all kinds of problems.

Don't really know why. Just noticed with the way the grain runs it'd be really easy to do.

Bad Idea man. When it drys out your drill will distort. We all look for light weight blocks this will be going in the wrong direction.
